Viewing Policy
1. Viewing times will be the first five and last ten minutes of every class. This is to ensure the best possible environment for the instruction of all dance students.
2. Please keep in mind that class is still in session at this time. Parents and siblings are welcome to observe dance class during these times, but are required to stay within designated viewing area boundaries.
3. Please do not talk with the Dancers or Instructors during classes and viewing times.
Dance Studio Policy
1. Food and beverages (other than water) are not allowed in the studios. This applies to both dancers and observers. Water bottles are okay. Gum is prohibited.
2. Dancers should be at the studio, dressed and ready to go with shoes on and appropriate hair 5-10 minutes before class begins.
3. Due to the specific progression of Ballet and Pointe classes, dancers arriving more than 5 minutes after class begins are not allowed to interrupt and join class.
Facility Policy
1. When waiting in the hallway, voices and activity must be kept to a minimum. This is crucial to the atmosphere of respect for all clients of VEGA/Virtuosity. Music classes may be going on in adjacent rooms, and hallway noise can interfere with the quality of this instruction.
2. Students are the responsibility of the instructor for only the specified time in dance class. Students being dropped off for class should not be left for more than 15 minutes before class. Once a class is completed, students are to be picked up immediately.
3. Parental supervision is required at all times for children who are not participating. Parents must keep their children with them at all times. Children may not roam the halls unattended.
4. Rooms labeled “Private” are available only to Virtuosity personnel.
5. Food and beverage are allowed in the hallways. Please be respectful and clean up after yourselves.
Practice
1. It is important for dancers to practice routines and new steps outside of class. Dancers are asked to come back each week having correctly memorized all that has been taught the week before and then maintain and improve from week to week. Practice may be given, especially during recital season, requesting dancers to practice several times per week.
2. Participating in the posted viewing times will help you, the parent, with home practice.
3. The class instructor may have notes of choreography for students to copy down during class.
Class Placement
1. Class size is 8 – 16 students, depending on the class. There must be a minimum of three students participating for the class to run.
2. Our first consideration for placement in our classes is age. Level 1 classes are for children in Kindergarten, first and second grades. Level 2 classes are for children in third, fourth and fifth grades. Level 3 classes are for Middle Schoolers. Preschool, High School and Adult classes are also age specific.
3. The next consideration in class placement is skill. “A” classes are for newer dancers, or often dancers in their first year of a particular level. “B” classes are for intermediate dancers, and “C” classes are geared for more advanced dancers, and enrollment is by teacher recommendation.
4. Some students may move into a higher class if determined by the instructor. Student attitude, effort,
home practice, self-discipline and attendance are also strong factors in class placement.
5. If at any time you have questions about class placement for your student, feel free to schedule a time (in the front office) to discuss your child’s progress with his/her instructor.
Payments & Registration
1. Recreational classes operate on a semester plan. Semester 1 runs from September 17th, 2009 – February 6th, 2010. Semester 2 runs from February 7th, 2010 – June 18th, 2010.
