“We'd have no radio or motor cars, No streets lit by electric stars; No telegraph no telephone, We'd linger in the age of stone. The world would sleep if things were run By men who say, "It can't be done."”
I did not start gymnastics till later in life. Growing up in a little town in Oregon did not allow for many sports outside of basketball and softball provided through the community. When my family moved to Vancouver when I was twelve I had my first taste of gymnastics in junior high and then later in high school. Gymnastics has been a vital part of my young life, teaching me discipline, leadership, team work, drive and perseverance. But I could not have gained these without the coaches that helped teach them. And so the next chapter in gymnastics for me must be coaching. It is my desire to pass on what I have learned through this sport to younger children. My hope is to be a teacher and role model for the children I get to coach. After High school I taught rock climbing at Bally's total fitness and I helped coach pole vaulting at Union High school and also gymnastics at Heritage High. I have truly enjoyed coaching so far and hope to see the children I coach enjoy gymnastics as well. As they say, "what you give is what you get."
